Tuesday, December 17, 2013
Michael Accavitti, Senior Vice President at American Honda accepts 2014
Green Car of the Year for the 2014 Accord from Ron Cogan, publisher of
Green Car Journal.
The name Honda and recognition seem to be going
hand-in-hand, especially in the last couple of years since the models have won
recognition at all levels. Adding another feather to this cap, the extremely
popular 2014 Honda Accord has been named as the “2014 Green Car of the Year” by
Green Car Journal. This award recognizes the class-leading environmental
performance of the Accord models, including their fuel efficiency and low emission
records. The Accord has also won the Journal’s ‘Top 5 Green Cars for 2014’
award and its ‘Green Car Product of Excellence’ award as well.
This Accord model managed to woo the selectors not only with
its fuel efficiency limits but also for its overall performance and comfortable
driving experience. This car is adept for those seeking higher fuel efficiency
as well as for those looking for superb technological features and overall
driving comfort. The 2014 Honda Accord models combine the best of hybrid,
plug-in choices and internal combustion features which make these cars stand
out in the crowd.
The 2014 Honda Accord lineup of models feature Honda’s new
and extremely efficient Earth Dreams Technology powertrains which makes these
cars the best among the lot. These models feature the next-generation
2.4-liter, direct-injected 4-cylinder engine with continuous variable
transmission or the six-speed manual transmission. As a result of these
efficient engines, Honda’s 2014 Accord models come with an incredible fuel efficiency
of 36mpg highway for 4-cylinder models and 34mpg highway for V6 models. The
Accord Plug-In model also offers a decent mileage of 115 MPGe and the Hybrid
Sedan model offers a jaw dropping EPA rating of 50mpg city.
Not only in terms of fuel economy and engine, the 2014 Honda
Accord models have also been the leaders in meeting the industry’s emission
standards. The Accord Plug-In model is the first of its kind to have met the
SULEV 20 emission standards ever achieved by any ICE vehicle currently
available in the market. Also, the Accord was the first vehicle to have met the
ULEV (1998) and SULEV (2000) emission standards and is currently the most
popular midsize passenger car available in the American market.
When you have so many awards and recognitions under your
belt, you do not need to prove your efficiency and popularity in the market,
and that’s how it’s with the 2014 Honda Accord models which have managed to
achieve it all with great élan and poise.
