Sneak Peek: The 2013 Honda CR-Z

Here is some inside news for all Fort Lauderdale Honda car enthusiasts from Holman Honda. The 2013 Honda CR-Z is set to receive interior and exterior styling changes, to include a standard backup camera. Meanwhile, even before the Paris Auto Show, it was learned that the European-spec 2013 Honda CR-Z will receive a more powerful engine and electric motor. Honda has confirmed this stating that the new powertrain would not affect its emissions or fuel economy. Some of these powertrain modifications may not appeal in the US, but the styling changes certainly will. It may also offer LED daytime running lights like its European counterpart. 

The 2013 Honda CR-Z may get a revised front fascia like the European model. The Honda CR-Z, which placed second in a six-car comparison of inexpensive sporty front-drive cars, may not include the customary three horizontal grille trims. A teaser video of the 2013 Honda CR-Z on the net shows a new black-and-silver wheel design, new headlights that appear to bear LED running lights. The higher-performance version of the hybrid coupe called the CR-Z Si, may also be on its way here, too.

The Honda CR-Z was launched in the US two years ago. It is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine good for 113 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque, and an electric motor/generator rated at 13 hp and 58 lb-ft, for peak combined outputs of 122 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. The CR-Z cars with the standard six-speed manual transmission yield 31/37 mpg (city/highway) and those with the continuously variable transmission increased the fuel economy to 35/39 mpg*.

2013 Honda Fit EV Now Available for Hire

San Francisco will be the first city in the US to have the electric car for hire. There is also a compact 92kW AC synchronous electric motor, which pumps out 189ft/lb of torque.**

The members of the Zipcar’s car sharing network will get more access to the most technologically advanced, low-emission cars in the manufacturer’s line-up. 4 Signs of Teen Driving Readiness

Does your teen consistently make poor judgment calls?  As adults, we face all sorts of decisions on a daily basis – so do teens. But sometimes they can make wrong choices. Notice if they often get into trouble in school, engage in prohibited activities against your wishes or constantly make the same mistakes.  Being able to think clearly and make rational decisions are vital to a teen’s driving safety.

Honda Considers Natural Gas Pumps at Dealerships

The demand for cheaper and cleaner fuel is on a steady rise and with the boom in sales for the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas (CNG) models, Honda sees this as a great opportunity to help Honda owners and dealerships alike. At present, compressed and natural gas stations are in short supply, minimizing the ability for Honda to sell more of these much needed cars. Thus, Honda is planning to have several of its dealers install CNG pumps on their lots. Honda has already initiated talks with California regulators to get pumps installed by year’s end.

Honda spokesperson Jessica Fini has said, “If there are qualified dealers in more states, we will expand to those markets.” Right now, Honda sells Civic Natural Gas models at dealerships within a 20-mile radius of a CNG station. She further added, “Public infrastructure is key to the continued growth of natural gas powered passenger vehicles.”

The 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas model, which has an estimated mileage of 38mpg on the highway*, is manufactured in Indiana along with the other Civic models and comes with a price tag around $26,925 including destination and handling. However, the model is exclusively sold in California and New York.  

“Expanding infrastructure in general is key to supporting more natural gas-powered vehicles on the road,” she said. “This is true for electric vehicles (chargers) and fuel cell electric vehicles (hydrogen refueling stations). Honda has no plans to get into the infrastructure business but will continue to support the growth of alternative-fueled vehicles with a diverse portfolio of products,” added Fini.

2012 Honda Accord Crosstour - Best of Value and Luxury
